Refund Policy

1. Free Trial

Every new account receives a 7-day free trial with full access to all features. No credit card is required to start a trial. You can evaluate whether Elate Books is right for your reconciliation workflow before paying anything. If the trial isn't a fit, simply don't subscribe — no charge will occur.

2. Subscription Charges

Elate Books Pro is offered at $99.00 USD per month, charged in advance for the upcoming billing period. By subscribing, you authorize Stripe (our payment processor) to charge your payment method on a recurring monthly basis until you cancel.

3. Cancellation

You may cancel your subscription at any time from the Billing Settings page or the Stripe Customer Portal. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period; you retain full access to the Service until that date.

No refund is issued for partial months in the case of voluntary cancellation. This is consistent with standard SaaS billing — you are paying for a month of service in advance, and cancellation prevents the next month's charge rather than refunding the current month.

4. Refund Eligibility

We will issue a refund in the following circumstances:

  • Duplicate charge: If you are charged twice in the same billing period due to a system error, we will refund the duplicate within 5 business days of confirming the issue.
  • Service unavailability: If the Service is unavailable for more than 48 consecutive hours due to a failure on our end (excluding scheduled maintenance announced in advance), we will issue a prorated refund for the affected days on request.
  • Unauthorized charge: If you believe a charge was made without your authorization (e.g., a former employee continued to use the account), contact us immediately at support@elatebooks.com. We will investigate and refund where warranted.
  • Billing error on our part: If we charged you the wrong amount, we will refund the difference and apologize for the error.

5. How to Request a Refund

To request a refund, email support@elatebooks.com with:

  • The email address on your Elate Books account
  • The approximate date of the charge
  • The reason you are requesting a refund

We aim to respond to refund requests within 2 business days. Approved refunds are issued via Stripe back to the original payment method and typically appear within 5–10 business days, depending on your card issuer or bank.

6. Chargebacks

If you have a billing concern, please contact us before initiating a chargeback with your card issuer. We will work in good faith to resolve any legitimate billing issue directly. Initiating a chargeback without first contacting us may result in suspension of your account.

7. Data Export After Cancellation

After you cancel, you can re-subscribe at any time and your data will still be there — we do not delete your data immediately upon cancellation. Per our Terms of Service, you may also request an export of your data within 30 days of account closure by emailing support@elatebooks.com.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Refund Policy from time to time. We will notify subscribers of material changes by email at least 30 days before they take effect. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance.
